About the Course
Basic Fetal Heart Monitoring will provide the novice nurse with comprehensive introductory training for the skills needed to perform fetal surveillance through electronic fetal heart monitoring. Most notably, the course provides an overview of the antepartum period as well as methods of antepartum testing. In addition, the nurse will learn the different methods of fetal heart monitoring and moreover, the considerations that must be made for internal vs external monitoring. Not to mention, this course will define the etiologies related to characteristics of the baseline fetal heart rate, variability and fetal heart decelerations. Last but not least, Nursing interventions will also be discussed for Category 2 and 3 fetal heart strips. Upon completion of the course the nurse will have the skills to assess fetal heart strips and perform the appropriate interventions.
