Nurses are required by the California Code of Regulations, Section 1451, Article 5, to complete 30 Contact Education Hours (CEHs) of continuing education every 2 years. Nurses Educational Opportunities (NEO) is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) as a continuing education provider (CEP).

Frequently Asked Questions

Are NEO's CEs BRN approved?

NEO is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing as a continuing education provider. We are permitted by the BRN to issue CEHs using our given provider number CEP17941.

Do I get the CEs on the same day?

CEs are awarded to students when an evaluation of the materials is complete. Evaluations may be returned in person, via fax or by email.

Do your CEs only apply to nurses?

Our provider number can be applied to any certification that accepts CEHS from the BRN. According to the Respiratory Care Board of California, Respiratory Therapists are eligible for BRN approved CEH courses.

 

What is a Contact Education Hour?

One Contact Education Hour is equivalent to roughly 50 to 60 minutes of instruction from a California Board of Registered Nursing approved course. NEO only issues Contact Education Hours.

What is a Contact Education Unit?

10 Contact Education Hours (CEs) are equivalent to 1 Contact Education Unit (CEU). Neo does not issue Contact Education Units.
