Fundamentals of Postpartum & Newborn Care

This course will focus on Postpartum Care and Neonatal Assessment. In brief, the RN will learn the skills needed to assess and implement appropriate nursing interventions for maternal mental and physical health. For instance, this course will cover venous thromboembolism, obstetrical hemorrhage, severe hypertension, and more for the newly postpartum mother. The RN will also learn how to do a complete head to toe assessment of the newborn. This will include the skills required for the one and five minute APGAR scoring. Additionally, the methods of performing the newborn screening will be covered. A perfect course for nurses aspiring to go into L&D as they will also be floated to the Postpartum unit.
