Management of Assaultive Behavior AB-508

Management of Assaultive Behavior

Mental illness and substance abuse is on the rise in the United States. As a result, learn to protect yourself with Management of Assaultive Behavior.

Individuals who work in the Emergency Room including the Psychiatric Unit are at a higher risk for assaultive events. First of all, the main goal of Management of Assaultive Behavior is to prepare students to verbally diffuse emotionally-charged situations while using good judgement.

Certainly, words can inspire but they can also destroy.
What words will you choose to say during a verbal assault?

Almost all verbal assaults lead to physical assaults. As a result, our Management of Assaultive Behavior AB 508 strives to equip healthcare providers with proper tools of logic to prevent a physical altercation. Hence, students who complete this course will leave prepared to verbally decrease violent behaviors. Furthermore, another goal of this course is to teach physical evasion with self-defense techniques. For example;

What would you do if someone pulls your hair?
Or, how would you get away if someone blocks the door?

Finally, students will be instructed in defense techniques and methods for heightened situations that may demand strength over logic.
