AHA Basic Life Support
About the Course
With the knowledge and skills you learn with Basic Life Support you can save a life. You will learn the skills of BLS also referred to as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for victims of all ages. You will learn how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). You will learn how to relieve a victim that is chocking (foreign-body airway obstruction). The skills you learn in this course will enable you to recognize emergencies such as cardiac arrest and how to respond to them.
Our AHA BLS Schedule
American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification/ Recertification classes are scheduled for 2 hours.
AHA BLS Certification and Recertification classes are offered in Costa Mesa, Monday-Saturday. The classes are offered as an individual appointment with our AHA BLS Instructor. To schedule your appointment, you can visit our online BLS Schedule, or call our Costa Mesa office at (714) 979-4022.

NOTE: AHA BLS Certification students are REQUIRED to have a copy of the AHA BLS Textbook 2010 ECC Guidelines at the time of class.

Course Objectives

Simulate head tilt-chin lift.

Simulate ventilation with mouth-to-mouth and a barrier device.

Simulate the complete sequence of 1 and 2 rescuer CPR for the adult victim.

Simulate the complete sequence of 1 and 2 rescuer CPR for the child victim.

Simulate the complete sequence of 1 and 2 rescuer CPR for the infant victim.

Verbalize the importance of early defibrillation.

Perform the universal steps of the AED.

Perform the steps in relieving foreign-body obstruction in the responsive adult, child and infant.

Verbalize the need for scene safety and standard precautions while providing first aid and BLS.

Verbalize four life-threatening emergencies.
