About the Course
Treat the Beat3 with Airway Management is designed to provide the Respiratory Therapist the cognitive knowledge and psychomotor skills to effectively function as a team member of a hospital code team and with experience, manage the airway of the code call. The information that is presented in this course is standardized by the American Heart Association and the Emergency Nurses Association.
Emphasis is placed on opening the airway, managing the airway, securing the airway and finally maintaining the airway. Airway adjuncts, oxygen delivery and monitoring systems, and suctioning systems are presented. The new science of ACLS is also included in this presentation with ECG practice strips and interventions that are required to know for the ACLS examination.
The Author Looks in the Rearview Mirror
Jane has said a thousand times “I could not have made it in my professional career without the Respiratory Therapist.†They knew more about the FOI2 and ways to administer oxygen, they suctioned better, they managed the ventilator better, and they interpreted ABGs better. Respiratory Therapists are vital to the team of healthcare providers and especially in the cardiac arrest code call. Jane always relied on the expertise of the RT to manage the airway and breathing. Thanks to each and everyone of you.
